Case Summary: This 76 year old male patient presented to JVAI with a history of painful, budging varicose veins in both legs that he had for most of his adult life. Years before, he had undergone a very painful vein stripping procedure during which he was hospitalized for several days with a six week post-operative recovery. Eventually the vein problem returned and progressed to more serious venous disease. He developed painful phlebitis in one leg and small areas of ulceration in both legs. Being active and employed as a meat cutter, the patient found that his problem with varicose veins and venous disease made it increasingly difficult to stand on his feet all day and perform his job duties.
