In both clinical trials, maximum hair reduction occurred 6-8 weeks after treatment with a progressive decrease in hair density following each subsequent treatment. In the six month trial, subjects with dark hair experienced the greatest hair removal (mean clearance 80–85%) but treatment was effective (65 – 78%) in all subjects and varied depending upon the specific area of the body treated. Results showed no significant difference in treatment related to skin color, as light and dark skin types responded similarly.  Treatments were well tolerated with air cooling and no subjects required topical or other anesthesia. Other than a slight temporary redness, no side effects were observed. These are two of many studies documenting the safety and effectiveness of elōs treatments in preventing future growth of hair.
