Barbara’s varicose veins and persistent unhealed venous leg ulcer, leg swelling and other venous disease symptoms were cured through out-patient state-of-the-art vein treatment at JVAI.

Barbara S, a 77 year old white female came to see us because of a calf wound that failed to heal, leg swelling, and prominent varicose veins. Barbara reported the usual complaints associated with venous disease: difficulty standing and walking, sleep disturbances, leg pain and an overall poor quality of life. She told us that the wound was due to an injury that had been present for many months. During her examination, we noted many venous stasis changes that are typical signs of underlying venous disease. Besides spider veins, varicose veins and swelling in her left and right lower legs, Barbara also had early hemosiderosis, a brownish discoloration that occurs around the ankle and lower tibial area from blood cell breakdown when venous hypertension is present. Barbara had no symptoms of classic claudication associated with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD).

Stephen V came to us in 2009, desperate to find an alternative to amputation recommended because of a 17-year history of failed treatments to heal his right foot leg ulcer. Starting as a brown recluse spider bite, none of the long list of physicians he had seen recognized his underlying venous disease problem.
