Can anyone get BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic is a good solution for those with brow wrinkles, forehead lines and crow's feet. It is FDA approved for the treatment of frown lines in people between the ages of 18 and 65.

Patients who should not receive BOTOX include those with a history of muscular and nervous disorders, allergies to any botulinum toxin product, asthma or emphysema, swallowing problems, facial weaknesses, eyelid drooping or bleeding problems. Other conditions where BOTOX should be avoided include a recent antibiotic injection, impending surgery, during pregnancy and while breast feeding. BOTOX should be not be used in those who have received another botulinum toxin product in the last four months or in people taking over-the-counter and prescribed muscle relaxants, allergy, cold and sleep medications.

What about side effects?

Although uncommon, BOTOX® Cosmetic may cause serious side effects, some of which can be life threatening. Problems with breathing, speaking or swallowing may occur hours to weeks following an infection of BOTOX® Cosmetic and should be promptly reported and treated. Less serious side effects may include

• Pain at the injection site
• Dry mouth
• Fatigue
• Headache

• Allergic reactions
